Set off with your group to discover all the secrets of the Cro-Magnon era! Our prehistory holiday takes you in their footsteps, with visits to parks, caves and interactive workshops. All in the heart of its birthplace, the Vézère Valley.
You’re staying in the atypical HI Cadouin youth hostel, a Cistercian abbey dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. David and his team welcome you with a smile!
Prehistory trip in Dordogne

Day 1
Arrival at HI Cadouin youth hostel.
Discovery of the establishment and installation in the rooms.
Dinner and night at the youth hostel.
Day 2
Morning: Breakfast and departure for Parc du Thot to discover the skills of Cro-Magnon man and the animals he lived with. Self-guided tour of the museum, followed by a guided tour entitled “First domestications” to understand the origins of animals from the Paleolithic (wolf) to the Neolithic (goat, horse…) and their evolution over time.
This is followed by a mediation meeting with the animal caretakers to feed the deer.
Picnic in the park.
Afternoon: New free time in the park, followed by an educational workshop on a theme of your choice: Introduction to cave art / Making a prehistoric ornament / Making a grease lamp / Flint knapping / Track hunter (looking for animal tracks in the forest).
At 3pm, wolves are fed by our animal handlers. A 20-minute augmented reality activity to discover the 3 most emblematic species of the Ice Age.
Dinner and night at the youth hostel.
Day 3
Morning: After breakfast at HI Cadouin, off to Lascaux IV, a facsimile of the famous Lascaux cave, one of the world’s most important prehistoric discoveries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided tour of the cave and self-guided tour of the rest of the center.
Lunch on site.
Afternoon: Departure for Eyzies de Tayac the birthplace of prehistory. Guided tour of the prehistoric shelters at Laugerie Basse, archaeological site in the Vézère valley.
Participation in a Cro-Magnon Architect workshop to create a prehistoric shelter.
Dinner and night at the youth hostel.
Day 4
In-house breakfast to mark the end of your stay.
