Atout France was the driving force behind the creation of this new classification category. Driven by the revival and development of this type of accommodation in France, this classification made sense for today’s market.
The «Auberge Collective» classification guarantees the public a certain level of facilities and services, thanks to 43 mandatory criteria and no less than 49 optional criteria. These criteria focus on reception, facilities, rooms and washrooms, as well as customer service, information, catering and more. Several criteria are also focused on sustainable development, such as waste management, the use of short distribution channels and raising awareness among customers and staff.
HI France aims to extend this classification to all its youth hostels.
